TX-24 Democratic Primary Candidate Forum

CandidateForum.002

Our executive branch is in chaos and we can’t vote him out until 2020.

Our judicial branch hangs in the balance and is untouchable in the upcoming 2018 elections.

But take heart, rational Americans. There are many state and federal legislative races up for grabs next November and this month, we’re spotlighting Congressional District 24.

The Dallas Morning News says Rep. Kenny Marchant is scared of his constituents. Because of his voting record, he should be.

Please join us for our TX-24 Democratic Primary Candidate Forum, featuring candidates Todd Allen, John Biggan, and Jan McDowell. Our forum will be moderated by journalist James Russell, who has written for D Magazine, Dallas Voice, Huffington Post, Texas Jewish Post and QuorumReport.com.

Mike Collier for Lt. Governor #TXEDReform Tour Kickoff

MikeCollier
UPDATE: Due to rain, we must move locations to The REC of Grapevine (“Community” side). Our new start time is 7pm.

Join us on September 28 to hear from Mike Collier, Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor, as he unveils a major education reform proposal. This is Mike’s only Tarrant County stop.

It’s no secret that in Texas we have a deeply broken school finance system. Across our state, parents, teachers and communities have been doing their best to offer the quality education our children deserve, only to be told each year that they need to do more with less. It’s time we tell the politicians in Austin to stop shortchanging our schools. We can deliver meaningful education reform that puts more dollars in the classroom and gives our teachers the tools they need to do great work educating our students. And we can do it while closing a massive corporate tax loophole that has let out-of-state businesses send our tax dollars out of Texas.

Mike will unveil his vision for closing big corporate tax loopholes and rebuilding education to make Texas proud again.

MCD Board note:
We’ll provide pizza slices, veggie trays, and cold drinks for folks before Mike’s talk for a $5 suggested donation. If you’re eating with us, arrive at 7 p.m. Please pre-pay at this link to ensure a correct food count.

Tell Them: Stop the Nonsense (July Meeting)

Texas Governor Greg Abbott is afraid of a primary from Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, so he’s submitted to Patrick’s wish for a special session. Patrick wants to look inside your pants outside of public restrooms, target lifesaving healthcare from Planned Parenthood, and attack local control of our cities.

Join fellow Mid-Cities Democrats on Thursday, July 27th. We’ll have a short business meeting and get to work writing letters to our state representatives, state senators and Letters to the Editor. Mid-Cities Democrats board member and communications consultant Kathleen Thompson will lead our workshop.

We’ll also hear from Allison Campolo, Democratic candidate for Texas Senate District 10, about her bid to retire Tea Party extremist Konni Burton.
