Imagine a government run by people, not money-that’s the vision of American Promise, working to end unchecked political spending by corporations, unions, special interest groups, and wealthy individuals, by ratifying the 28th Amendment to the Constitution to restore American democracy.
The North Texas chapter of American Promise works with local teams to ask their city councils for a resolution calling on Congress to send an amendment to the states for ratification. 800 cities and towns have passed such resolutions, but in Texas only Austin has done so.
Join us for our July meeting when we will hear from Ann Drumm about dark money in politics and what you can do in our communities to fight it.

For our annual May social (no May meeting), let’s celebrate Sine Die (the end of the 86th Legislative Session) together and watch “Running With Beto,” winner of the 2019 SxSW audience award.
“Running With Beto” follows Beto O’Rourke behind the scenes of his breakaway campaign to unseat Ted Cruz in the United States Senate. With intimate access to the candidate, his family and team, this independent documentary captures Beto’s rise from a virtual unknown to a national political sensation.
