New Year, New #TXlege with Rep. Ramon Romero, Jr.

The Texas Legislature is back in session, and the 87th will be one of the most consequential in decades. Lawmakers must take action on the pandemic, public education, economic opportunity, redistricting, and more.

State Rep. Ramon Romero, Jr. (Tarrant’s HD 90) will share his legislative priorities and, with COVID-19 and increased state capitol security, inform us how Texans can safely testify and participate this session.

Then, our meeting will also include local election candidate announcements. Confirmed candidates include:
John Biggan for Hurst City Council
Kristie Hanhardt for Fort Worth City Council

Get out the Vote-Georgia Senate Runoffs!

Early voting in Georgia for the Senate runoffs began today! Joe Biden won Georgia and Democrats can win again in January.

If you’ve been waiting to do something, wait no more.

Make sure that democracy and progress win with Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock. A Democratic Senate will prioritize pandemic relief, health care, climate change, workers rights and human rights.

This Thursday, December 17, from 6-8pm (EST) we will make calls with the Georgia Democratic Party to get out the vote! Let’s help Georgia Democrats finish strong and give the Biden-Harris administration, and all of us, the Senate we deserve and need.

Public Education in a Pandemic—September Meeting

Schools already serve so many more functions than education, and now in a global pandemic, they’re being asked to open despite federal and state failure to control COVID-19.

Before the disease, the Texas Legislature didn’t pay its fair share of funding, and the last time Texas had a budget deficit, lawmakers took billions from our neighborhood schools.

This month, we’ll hear from Anthony Elmo, Texas AFT (Texas American Federation of Teachers) Jessica Lugo, HEB ISD, and Kim Martinez, AISD about how they are doing, and how we can support educators in November, and year-round.
