July Meeting—Relational Organizing Training

Texas is growing — and the voter growth is all on one side of the aisle! At least 955,735 Texans voted in this week’s Democratic runoff!

Congratulations to MJ Hegar for Senate, Chrysta Castañeda for Railroad Commissioner, and Candace Valenzuela for Congress. Thank you to all the candidates who put their personal lives on hold to run for office in the March primary and this runoff. You are appreciated!

We are nearing 100 days away from Election Day! Texas is the biggest battleground state and Tarrant County is vital to flipping Texas in 2020.

Join the TDP Training team for our July Meeting—Relational Organizing Training. We will cover why talking to your friends and family about the upcoming election is extremely important as well as providing materials to facilitate those conversations. Training details will be provided upon registration.

June Meeting: Voting by Mail in Texas

Republicans Gov. Abbott, Lt. Gov. Patrick, and AG Paxton don’t want you progressives to vote by mail. Sure, they have voted by mail, but when they do it… that’s… different?

Join Progress TexasWesley Story to discuss their VBM petition to Gov. Abbott and state leaders in support of Texans’ voting rights and safety. The petition has nearly 7000 signatures and counting. Have you signed?

Primary runoff voting begins June 29!

Democracy Wins—Mail Ballots and TDP Convention

Safe, accessible voting should not be a partisan issue. In Wisconsin this month, Republicans from their state legislature to the US Supreme Court forced voters to risk their lives to exercise their right to vote.

A new state judge’s ruling to allow vote by mail in Texas, as early as the June runoffs, will save lives and should not be appealed by multiple felony indicted AG Ken Paxton and Gov. Greg Abbott, at our taxpayer expense.

State Democratic Executive Committeewoman Libby Willis and Committeeman Emad Salem will discuss the coalition of voting rights partners who brought the suit, the hearing and ruling.

Then we will hear about the upcoming Texas Democratic Party State Convention, now an entirely virtual event. (https://texasdemocraticconvention.com/)

See you online, and bring a friend (virtually).

Events Postponed

Friends, due to the current need for social distancing to protect the most vulnerable among us, we are postponing our March meeting, with a new date to be announced.

Meanwhile, take five minutes to be counted in the 2020 Census. Results help determine how billions of dollars in federal funding flow to states and communities each year, and the results determine how many seats in Congress each state gets.

We care about all of you. Practice social distancing, avoid social gatherings, wash your hands, and take care!
