January 2017 Meeting

The 85th Texas Legislature is now underway and our first club meeting of the year is January 26.

We know the out-of-touch priorities of Greg Abbott and Dan Patrick. Make sure you attend our January meeting as we vote as a club on our priorities for 2017. Of course, we will support Democrats willing to step up and run at the local level, and we will watch the legislative session closely, but the particulars of focus are up to you – MCD members.

Project LIFT (Local Investment in the Future of Texas) is a new program of the Texas Democratic Party that works with party leaders and progressive partners to recruit, train, and support candidates – with a special focus on winning local, non-partisan races.

With hundreds of cities and school districts holding elections in May, we want to have Democrats running in every corner of the state. It’s up to local Democrats leaders to encourage their fellow Democrats to step up and run. Learn some best practices on recruiting candidates from Project LIFT leaders Cliff Walker and Andrew Turney.

Also, we will hear from Terry Meza, a candidate you voted to endorse and fund, who lost her state representative race in November by only a few dozen votes out of more than 47,000 votes.

See you at Los Jims, and bring a friend!

What a year it’s been!

In part due to our voter contact and donations, our endorsed candidates raised Democratic turnout in their districts and one candidate came within a few dozen votes out of 47,000 of winning.

Our membership has grown and we’re ready to say goodbye 2016, hello, 2017 municipal and school board elections.

POSTPONED Due to Weather: Adopt-a-Highway Cleanup

Democrats know environmental protection is essential to our health, quality of life and long-term economic growth. Let’s do our part in OUR community.

It’s time for our Adopt-a-Highway cleanup along Colleyville Boulevard/Grapevine Highway.

We’ll gather upstairs at Market Street for coffee, split into teams and head out.

TXDOT will provide everything we’ll need. (Please wear closed-toe shoes.)

October Meeting and Terry Meza Phone Bank

Early voting is underway! What a difference it will make to put another Democrat in the Texas Legislature!

We’ll have a short business meeting and get to work calling HD 105 voters for State Representative candidate Terry Meza. You’ll be provided with scripts and the call list.

Terry is in a very competitive district and her opponent is an extremist incumbent.

Bring a charged cell phone and a friend! See you at Los Jims!
