HD 92 Democratic Forum

Democrats need only nine seats to flip the Texas House and HD 92 is the 6th most winnable in the state! Rep. Jonathan Stickland accomplished nearly nothing, knew he’d be defeated in 2020, and isn’t running again.

Two Democrats, Steve Riddell and Jeff Whitfield, are vying for the Democratic nomination and to bring real representation to the district. At the first forum of the HD 92 Primary, hear why they deserve your support AND raise money for 2020! All proceeds of our event will be donated to the winner of the Democratic Primary.

Our forum will be moderated by journalist James Russell, who has written for D Magazine, Dallas Voice, Huffington Post, Texas Jewish Post and QuorumReport.com. Questions from the audience are allowed and welcome.

Flip the Texas House—September Meeting

Democrats are only nine seats away from taking the Texas House!

That means we’d control the speakership, post-census redistricting fair maps, and better outcomes for all Texans!

In case you missed it, Democrats stopped a 16% tax hike, made healthcare more affordable by eliminating surprise medical billing, protected Texans with student loans from job loss, defeated attacks on voting rights, and reformed some marijuana laws.

BUT, because of their numbers, Republicans could stand in the way of Medicaid expansion, gun violence prevention, and fully funding our neighborhood schools.

At our September meeting, hear from our friend Rep. Ramon Romero, Jr. (HD 90, Fort Worth) about his proudest accomplishments of the session, and what he thinks is possible in the next session.

July Meeting—$ in Politics

Imagine a government run by people, not money-that’s the vision of American Promise, working to end unchecked political spending by corporations, unions, special interest groups, and wealthy individuals, by ratifying the 28th Amendment to the Constitution to restore American democracy.

The North Texas chapter of American Promise works with local teams to ask their city councils for a resolution calling on Congress to send an amendment to the states for ratification. 800 cities and towns have passed such resolutions, but in Texas only Austin has done so.

Join us for our July meeting when we will hear from Ann Drumm about dark money in politics and what you can do in our communities to fight it.
