Day 1 - Thursday, June 8,
2006
Day One of the Texas
Democratic State Convention, in Fort Worth, started off with
subcommittee meetings and a full SDEC meetings.
Later in the
afternoon, there was a Reception and Volunteer Reunion for
Justice Bob Gammage, former candidate for Texas Governor. Bob
showed up, as well as state candidates Fred Head and Hank
Gilbert. Several Mid-Cities Democrats members were present at
the successful reunion, which drew approximately 55 people.
The evening
concluded with Kick-off Reception.
Day 2 -
Friday, June 9, 2006
Day 2 began with a series of workshops and caucuses for the
approximately 7,000 attending the Texas State Convention. During
the afternoon, Senate Districts met to elect their
representatives for the State Democratic Executive Committee (SDEC)
and to the Permanent Convention Committees on Rules, Platform,
Nominations and Credentials.
The delegates filled the Convention Hall in the evening for a
series of speeches by some of the candidates and the Keynote
Speaker, General Wesley Clark. Below are links to the various
convention speeches from Friday evening.

Day 3 -
Saturday, June 10, 2006
Day 3 started with the convening of the Permanent Committees on
Credentials, Platform, Resolutions & Rules to prepare
recommendations for the full convention. Next, over 1,400 Texas
Dems gathered to hear Cong. Stephanie Herseth (D-SD) talk about
winning in the reddest of states at our Blue Star Breakfast.
This was followed by more workshops and caucuses, before the
delegates returned to the Convention floor.
