H-E-B Democrats Brunch Bunch

We’re getting the band back together!

All Hurst, Euless, and Bedford progressives are invited to come meet other local folks in an informal setting to chat about current events, Trump disasters-of-the-day, and how we can get HEB voting BLUE again.

Look for the light blue “H-E-B DEMS” table sign when you get to Raven’s Grille.

Sean Hayward Campaign Kickoff

Please join us this Thursday at Los Jimadores from 6:30 p.m., as we host a fundraiser for our club president Sean Hayward. Sean is running for Tarrant County Community College Trustee District 3.

Our community college needs trustees who will work to ensure that a high quality and affordable higher education is available to all in Tarrant County.

We at Mid-Cities Democrats believe that Sean will hold true to this principle, and so wholeheartedly support his candidacy.

February 2017 Meeting

Over next few months, the challenges facing the Texas Legislature could not be more serious.

Children are in overcrowded classrooms. College is out of reach for many and student loan debt is bankrupting a generation. Healthcare, for those lucky to have it, is facing chaos. The foster care system is in crisis and kids are dying. The most essential state services will be slashed by billions if Trump Republicans have their way, and our economy has taken a dive from 3rd to 21st under Republican Gov. Greg Abbott.

In January, our membership began voting on our legislative priorities, among them public education funding, women’s rights, criminal justice reform, and the environment, to name a few.

Texas Democrats are fighting to ensure every community has a fair shot to get ahead. One ally in the fight against Trump Republican priorities is Trans-Cendence International, Inc.

Our February meeting features Finnigan Jones, Executive Director and co-founder of Trans-Cendence International, Inc. Finnigan serves as a leader in the transgender community of DFW and serves as a consultant to other transgender communities outside of Texas. He is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, a transgender/gender identity consultant, and ally training consultant.

We’ll hear about SB6, Dan Patrick’s “bathroom bill” and about the fight for a safer Texas.

See you at Los Jims, and bring a friend!

Sanders vs. Cruz: ACA Debate Watch

Health care is a right — every Texan deserves access to quality, affordable health coverage. Since the Affordable Care Act became law, more Texans have gained access to health coverage than ever before. But 5 million Texans still don’t have insurance, which means we still have a long, long way to go.

On Tuesday night, Senator Bernie Sanders will debate Senator Ted Cruz on the Affordable Care Act, and we’ll be watching.

Free to attend. Suggested donation $5.

Adopt-a-Highway Cleanup

Democrats know environmental protection is essential to our health, quality of life and long-term economic growth. Let’s do our part in OUR community.

It’s time for our Adopt-a-Highway cleanup along Colleyville Boulevard/Grapevine Highway.

We’ll gather upstairs at Market Street for coffee, split into teams and head out.

TXDOT will provide everything we’ll need. (Please wear closed-toe shoes, and bring water/drink of your choice.)
