MCD
Tonights meeting of the Mid-Cities Democrats featured the Democratic candidate for Railroad Commissioner, Jeff Weems. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram has a nice article about Jeff’s comments before over 50 members and friends tonight. You can read more by clicking here.
In addition, the Representative Paula Pierson campaign brought cake to celebrate Mid-Cities having won the Golden Shoe award from last weekend’s Super Walk.
A big thanks to those who came out tonight and to those of you who thanked our former President, Dorie Cranshaw, for her tremendous service to the Mid-Cities Democrats.

MCD
The Mid-Cities Democrats won the prestigious Golden Shoe Award, presented by State Representative Paula Pierson’s re-election campaign, for having the most volunteers block walk today! A big thanks to the following 14 volunteers for representing MCD:
Terri Bilbo, Diane Hollingsworth, Miki Hawkins, Jo Pierce, Tari Bauer, Gabriela Garza de Warwick, Kathleen Tucker, Chris Utchell, Karon Stephens, Gwenn Berud, Lynne Doyle, Byron Sibbet, Ronnie Katz, and Todd Hill
The Golden Shoe award is recognition for organizations and clubs who come out and block walk for the Paula Pierson re-election campaign. Previous winners include our brothers and sisters with the 360 Corridor Democratic Action Club and the Tarrant County Stonewall Democrats. What an honor it is to be included with such great organizations.
Now we must turnout for the next Rep. Chris Turner Mega Walk set for Saturday, August 7th. More details soon. Also, Rep. Paula Pierson will have another Super Walk on Saturday, August 21st, where MCD will need to DEFEND OUR GOLDEN SHOE AWARD!

Oh really? Two-thirds of Grapevine citizens prefer their current trash and recycling service?
Well, I may have paid for that answer, but I am sure not buying it!
The city of Grapevine (meaning taxpayers) paid more than $9000.00 for this survey, but no one I know – friends, fellow church members and co-workers, were surveyed. No one on the citizens group that has worked for more than a year on this matter was surveyed.
Our group asked to be a part of the survey, including formation of questions. There was not a single word in the survey on the benefits of improved recycling – reduction in emissions, reduction in landfill waste and reduction in unsightly curbside trash.
This survey was an expensive joke on this very serious matter. How disappointing.
Fellow citizens, if you feel that Grapevine should be the cleaner, greener city it claims to be, join business owners, environmental experts and families calling for change. MCD
Members and friends of the Mid-Cities Democrats gathered at Lake Grapevine on the 4th of July to enjoy great fun, great weather, and outstanding fireworks!
We had the pleasure of hosting Specialist Robby Bryan with the United States Army. Specialist Bryan missed his flight from DFW to Iraq where he was set to begin his 2nd tour of duty in that conflict. A big thanks to MCD member, Vila Compagna, for offering one of her boat tickets to Specialist Bryan to come join us for the 4th festivities. MCD members and boat participants made sure Robby had a very special 4th of July with a full spread of food and desserts. Little did Robby know, but it was our honor to not only host him, but celebrate American Independence Day with him too.
Mid-Cities Plans to keep in touch with Robby to offer assistance to he and his unit as they serve overseas in Iraq. We hope to keep track and follow their progress as well. Get ready for some care package drives, folks!
Be watching our website as we continue and update our Flickr page regularly. Boat pictures will be up soon.
