Voter ID back again (Star-Telegram)
This is ridiculous. (See: GOP race centers on voter ID bill, Wednesday) State Rep. Todd Smith complained to Republican Chairwoman Stephanie Klick for publicly saying that he might allow a provision so that voters could register the same day they cast ballots.
That could never work. How could a potential voter’s registration be verified before they vote? Is this the party of misinformation?
Another problem is how will someone without a photo ID obtain one? If they don’t have some type of government issued ID, will they have to pay for it? If so, that’s a voter tax and that is illegal. The government has to pick up the tab or just drop the whole idea.
