The people didn’t vote (Star-Telegram)
Ralph Smith stated in his Jan. 12 letter that “we” voted down wasteful spending proposal for the Kate Baker Park building, a building that would have added to the quality of life for the residents of Richland Hills.
The truth is the residents were misinformed regarding the cost of the building and the available donated funds necessary to build it.
It would not have cost the residents any additional funds. The more than $200,000 donated for that project were returned to the donors.
Since the park building funds were donated, it would not have affected our city budget. Also the rental fees would have more than covered the upkeep of the building.
Smith and this dysfunctional City Council cannot see past the end of their noses when it comes to planning for the future of our city.
