July 2010 Meeting

Concerned citizens are invited to the next regular meeting of the Mid-Cities Democrats, Thursday July 22, to hear from Democratic candidate for Railroad Commissioner Jeff Weems. Despite its archaic and confusing name, the Railroad Commission regulates oil and gas production. Mr. Weems will discuss his candidacy and current hot button issues including Barnett Shale natural gas drilling and its effects on surrounding communities.
Members and guests are encouraged to arrive at the Bedford Spring Creek Barbecue Restaurant, 1509 Airport Freeway, early at 6:30 p.m. to move through the buffet line. Click here for a map.  The meeting will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m.

April Meeting

Area Democrats are invited to the next meeting of the Mid-Cities Democrats, Thursday, April 22.
Mary DeSantiago, Democratic Candidate for County Clerk is our guest speaker and we will make plans for the May Bill White Fundraiser and June State Democratic Party Convention.
Note the meeting’s location change to Spring Creek Barbeque, 1509 Airport Fwy., Bedford, and arrive early to eat. The meeting will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m.

March Meeting

Area Democrats are invited to hear from Democratic candidates seeking your vote in the upcoming May municipal and November general elections. John Jenkins, candidate for Tarrant County College Trustee and Steve Lerma, candidate for County Commissioner Precinct 4 are the guest speakers at the March Mid-Cities Democrats Meeting, Thursday, March 25.
Attendees should arrive at Cornejo’s Mexican Restaurant, 3314 Harwood Road, in Bedford at 6:30 p.m. for a $10.00 full Mexican buffet or 7:00 p.m. to eat. Drink specials will also be provided. The meeting will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m.
Democrats should also bring their plastic yard signs from the primary. Signs will be recycled and the stands will be reused.

Ronnie Earle at February Meeting

Ronnie Earle, Democratic Primary candidate for Lieutenant Governor will be the keynote speaker at the February meeting of the Mid-Cities Democrats, Thursday, February 25. The North Texas native began his political career with Governor John Connally and has worked with every Texas governor since. It was the campaign finance investigation led by Earle, then Travis County District Attorney that led to the 2005 indictment of Republican Tom DeLay, the House Majority Leader and self-dubbed “Texas Hammer”.
(Other Democratic candidates for Lt. Governor were invited to the February meeting.)
Attendees should arrive at the Sheet Metal Workers’ Union Hall, 1020 S. Industrial Boulevard, at 6:30 p.m. to socialize and eat. Pizza and sodas will be served for a small donation. The meeting will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m.
